FortisBC rebates can help you offset the costs of upgrading to high efficiency lighting and equipment. Businesses and non-profits in eligible FortisBC areas can receive a free walkthrough energy assessment. This assessment by a pre-qualified FortisBC contractor will identify low- and no-cost energy conservation measured, potential energy efficiency upgrades for you to consider and available rebates from FortisBC. **Some Conditions Apply**
In Addition, the Energy Assessment Program offers:
- A free no-obligation facility assessment to identify energy-saving opportunities.
- Recommendations and estimates of rebates, energy savings, project costs and payback periods.
- Instant rebates of up to 50 percent off the cost of high-efficiency lighting, controls, refrigeration upgrades, equipment and more.
- Must be a commercial FortisBC natural gas and/or electricity customer in qualifying areas.
- Must be the owner or long-term leasholder of a medium sized business or small insudtrail/manufacturing facility.
Who Is Rebate Eligible?Business & Non-Profit Customers
- You must be a commercial, industrial or irrigation FortisBC electricity customer or municipal electricity customer of Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland or Nelson Hydro.
- You must be an owner or long-term leaseholder of existing commercial or industrial building, or a building/developer or owner of a new commercial or industrial construction project.
- Non-Profits must be a registered charity providing assistance to income-qualified persons or a housing provider that is a local government, governing body of an Indigenous Band providing housing, or registered under either the Societies Act or Cooperative Association Act.

Commercial Lighting Rebates

HVAC Controls Installations
Eligible ENERGY STAR® control products for HVAC systems qualify for rebates of up to $1,500 per unit. Installing controls on your HVAC systems can help your system run more efficiently and decrease annual maintenance costs.

Heat Pump & Electric Water Heater Rebates
Eligible ENERGY STAR® HVAC and Water Heater equipment are eligible for instant rebates. Upgrade to high efficiency equipment to help save you money and heat your space or water more efficiently.
Eligible Equipment Includes
- Heat pump water heaters
- Packaged terminal heat pumps
- Split system air source heat pumps
- Rooftop unit air source heat pumps
- Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems (rebate cap $200k)
- Occupancy sensors - hotel guest room occupancy sensors
Variable Speed Drive Rebates
Installing variable frequency drives on your equipment can offer speed adjustment, reduced wear and decrease the annual maintenance costs of the equipment. VFD’s qualify for instant rebates and can be used to regulate power to many motor load applications of all sizes.
Eligible Equipment Includes
- Variable speed drives for 20hp or greater
- Variable speed drives for less than 20hp
